The Public Investigator, Cora Grace

Book overview

The Public Investigator is a crime and mystery novel about a famous, but deeply private New York detective and a washed up novelist who begin a working relationship. Arthur reluctantly agrees to write the detectives biography during a murder investigation. Arthur begins to dig up Mallory's (the detective) past and discovers her bleak and disastrous childhood, all while shadowing Mallory during the investigation. Mallory's real motives and past begin to unfold in front of Arthur, leading to a final confrontation and stand-off between the investigator and author.
Concept statement

The fingerprint is made out of words representing the rush of emotions and thoughts. Like a sort of puzzle that is coming together to form the final piece. It also indicates a certain crime, perhaps in the present, or maybe in the darker past of the protagonist.

As for the author's name and title, it should follow the same narrative of mystery. Visually it resembles a censored document, again emphasizing intrigue and uncertainty.
