Between 1991 and 2015, Josef Koudelka visited hundreds of archaeological sites in the Mediterranean, symbols not only of the decline of Greek and Roman civilization, but also of the metamorphosis and impending loss of its long-lived legacy. The disappearing logo was created as a part a book of his panoramic photographs, which the French publisher did not publish in the end, but it became the brand of the exhibition at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France in Paris and its catalog, which was published successively by Aperture in the US, Thames & Hudson in the UK and Contrasto in Italy.
