"We are Colonials", is a miniature furniture series.
In order to understand the complex joinery and folding mechanism used in this furniture, I chose to study few antique furniture pieces. During this corona pandemic, I couldn't access the workshop, it's tools, the design studio, and work 'hands on' with the material. Hence, to understand the principles of collapsibility I made miniature models of the furniture with a scale of 1:6. The material was laser cut, finished with sandpaper, and hand painted.
