Chocolate Project
Your brief is to develop a designed experience that involves the eating of chocolate. This experience should include consideration of the form of the chocolates, their individual flavours, their packaging, and the scenario or ritual that occurs when engaging in the experience. You will also need to describe the ‘user’ of your experience through the creation of a persona.
Persona
Sam Robson is 20 years old, he is a student studying civil engineering at university who enjoys playing video games and listening to podcasts. He’s part of the university bouldering and rock climbing team, and he enjoys the thrill of dangerous climbs. He also enjoys spending time/drinking with house and coursemates on the weekend. He lives by the motto “You Only Live Once”. His secret that he’s told no-one is that one time he got onto the show Ninja Warrior, one of his favourite shows, but he embarrassingly failed the first hurdle for being cocky.
Motivation Points
- He strives to be a likeable person
- Wants to graduate from university, and become a successful civil engineer
- He is inspired by a partner he met whilst at university, wants to succeed for them and
  have a long-lasting relationship
Pain Points
- Struggles to feel loved after his parents divorce.
- He worries a lot about his condition, which will affect his mobility in the future, as this
will affect his ability to do rock climbing.
- Is socially awkward

The Product Experience
Hot Chocs is a collaborative product between Toblerone and the YouTube series Hot Ones, which is a web series that gets celebrities to eat hot wings in a talk show format. Hot Chocs is an exciting spicy chocolate experience that reaches dangerous levels of spice, designed as a daring party game to be played with friends. Each player would have their own pack of chocolates, and they can also be bought in a multi-pack of 4. Before purchasing, the buyer must sign a waiver stating that they are over the age of 18, and that Hot Ones and Toblerone are not responsible for any injuries/harm caused. The game comes with a QR code which brings the players into the app store for a free download of the HOT CHOCS™ Party Game App. The app features multiple card packs which can have different game modes. The main game, consists of a prompt that comes up with a an embarrassing question or challenge, and if the player does not complete the challenge they would have to eat one of the chocolates. As the chocolates get eaten throughout the game, the LED’s within the packaging light up (this gives the players a sense of accomplishment, as when they reach the end, the entire package is lit) which parallels the colours on the Scoville scale. They get progressively spicier until finally, ‘the Last Dab’.

The Flavours
The hot sauces from the hot ones show are directly used as the flavours of the chocolates, getting spicier as they go up. The flavours for the chocolates shown above, going from left to right;
Ghost flavoured White Chocolate - Savoury/Sweet
Los Calientes (The hot ones) flavoured White Chocolate - Sweet/Citrus
Reaper flavoured milk chocolate - Sweet/Smoky
Volcanic flavoured milk chocolate - Spicy
Da Bomb flavoured milk chocolate - Spicy/Savoury
Pierde aimas (losing souls) flavoured dark chocolate - Tropical/Spicy
The last dab flavoured 100% bittersweet dark chocolate - Extra Spicy
