PROJECT BRIEF
The goal of this project was to practice editorial techniques by designing book jackets for a three-part series.
DESIGN CONCEPT
For this project, I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and design in a genre and tone that I usually do not go for. Creatures of the Crypt is a fictional horror series that focuses on uncovering the mysteries within Cryptozoology, the study and search for animals whose existence or survival is disputed or unsubstantiated. These accounts each highlight one prolific creature and provide first-hand accounts, and scientific research conducted on these entities.
DESIGN EXECUTION
As far as the design goes, there is scarce evidence of what these creatures actually look like, so the creatures are silhouetted with glowing eyes against a background of foliage, typically these creatures are spotted in forests or rural areas. The tone of these book covers is meant to be ominous, daring the reader to dive in and join the search in uncovering the creatures of the crypt.
