Cotton Inc. Design Competition- Augment
Augment

Like trees, the cotton plant grows in layers. Each layer or ring represents an experience in it's life. We created our own version of tree rings out of needle felted cotton fibers to represent a woman's life experiences. There are good times and bad times, each represented by various rings. Augment means to make something greater by adding to it. We are constantly gaining knowledge and adding growth to our own personal ring.
Sydney Catherine Benda and I created a ten piece spring collection, a variety of textile samples, and a completed garment as finalists in the Cotton Incorporated Design Competition. All of the fibers used are 100% organic cotton. Our process and illustration books are hand bound and made from of 100% cotton rag.
As exhibited at Alexander Hall Gallery in Savannah, Georgia from April 15- May 3 2013.
