Adaptive Clothing: UX Case Study

Streamline Shopping for Adaptive Clothing
Adaptive Clothing provides members of the special needs community with the unique opportunity to gain confidence and independence with apparel altered to suit their needs. The shopping process for kids' adaptive clothing was time consuming and draining. To amend this, I created an app that streamlines adaptive clothing from a variety of brands to one sources, with various features to ease the shopping process, specific to this unique community.
What is Adaptive Clothing?
Adaptive clothing is designed to help the special needs community, elderly, or anyone who may struggle dressing themselves. Altered with adaptive features, samples of this apparel may include closure methods like magnets or velcro instead of buttons, waistbands with elastic instead of zippers, hidden openings for tubes to enter during treatment, or soft fabric with out tags for sensory challenges.
Research, Wire Frames, and Visual Language
For this project, I researched various scholarly articles, then conducted interviews, a large survey, and behavioral mapping. As I began creating, I completed a competitive analysis, studied my target audience, created personas and guiding questions, all to retain focus through the duration of the design process. Above are notes and wireframes to the left with the work's visual language to the right.

The prototype has many special features adapted to suit the needs of this unique community. Below to the left is an example of the opportunity to shop by a specific need. To the right is a sensory friendly UI screen for those in the community that may struggle with sensory challenges.
