My final for my fashion figure drawing class was inspired by my grandmother who was recently diagnosed with Glioblastoma cancer, which is a form of a brain tumor. My grandmother is a strong, independent woman battling cancer which is who I wanted to represent the collection. The muse is a woman who is powerful and in charge. I wanted this to be known within the clothing, so I created aspects of women's wear that I believe to make a women feel the most powerful when wearing. This included thigh high boots, a statement red color, slits in the dresses and pants, and a blazer. These articles of clothing can make a woman have all the confidence in the world. The corsets displayed in every outfit act as the "protection" against cancer, also known as chemo and radiation. When a woman with cancer is receiving her protection she can continue to be strong and in charge. This collection is dedicated to my grandmother.
