2020年註定是讓所有人記憶深刻的不平凡的一年。新冠疫情的突然襲來,以及由此引發的大範圍停工停學,令幾乎每個個體都難以避免地受到波及。Award360°100年度設計獎(簡稱Award360°)的設立初衷,正是期望通過評選出100件設計作品,去梳理與感受設計行業與設計生態在每年時代背景下所經歷的細微變化與所蘊含的潛在趨勢。而在這樣特殊的一年,Award360°2020的征集結果除了感受到設計行業無論在何種環境下依然堅韌向前的生機與活力,還在這當中觸碰到了當下所潛藏的一些設計變化。

在本年度的年度設計100及14個專業組類別中,Award360°共評選出13個年度最佳設計獎;年度多媒體創意設計及全場大獎獲獎者出現空缺。此外,還有6名年度畢業設計及2位年度新人誕生。獎項類別設置亦是Award360°捕捉與描述行業變化的一個渠道。在2020年,Award360°對獎項進行了些許調整:年度唱片設計拓寬為年度音樂設計,年度概念設計更新為年度實驗設計。對於這些概念尚難明確的泛領域類別,參賽作品也逐漸反饋給我們更多關於其定義的思考。在其啟發下,Award360°將繼續和參賽者一起探索設計類別當下最適合的模樣。

市場環境在時刻變化,而視覺設計往往是其前沿的試驗地與反應端。以年度為核心概念的Award360°,除了期望成為年度最新設計作品的匯集地,也正想帶給大家更多背景趨勢的思考。設計師在設計語言、形式、概念、材料等維度持續作出各自的最新探索,與之對應的亦是日新月異的宏觀商業環境。正如評委所言,世界瞬息萬變,誰也沒法確定設計界會給出怎麼樣的回應。在當下的現實性與未來的探索性之間,Award360°將與參賽者一起尋找到一個平衡點,以靈活的姿態時刻關注與觸碰設計最活躍與最前線的變化。

The year 2020 is meant to be remembered. Nearly every individual has been affected by the sudden epidemic, with weeks or even months of halt of school or work. The setting up of Award360° 100 Annual Design Award (Award360°) is to detect the underlying trend of design industry and ecology in every era by selecting 100 design works. In such a special year, the result of Award360° 2020 not only showcased the design industry’s tenacious energy in whatever circumstance, but also revealed the subtle change in today’s design environment.

From this year’s 100 Design of the Year and 14 professional categories, Award360° selected 13 best designs of the year, with the Multimedia Creative Design Of The Year and the Grand Prize remaining vacant. In addition, there are six winners sharing the Graduation Work of the Year, and there are two winners of the New Talent of the Year. Award360° expects to capture and describe the changes in the industry through categorizations. In 2020, Minor changes have been made in terms of categorization: Record Design of the Year was evolved into Music Design of the Year; and Concept Design of the Year was updated to be the Experimental Design of the Year. While the content in these categories involves too many domains for a clear definition, the competing works have been constantly giving us feedback. With such inspiration, Award360° will explore the most suitable design categorization together with the entrants.

The market environment is ever changing, and visual design is often the frontier test ground and reaction end. Award360°, making “annual” as its core concept, apart from being the collector of one-year best design works, also aims to inspire more thought on the background trends.  Designers have made their own exploration and gave their own answers in design language, form, concept, and materials, responding to which is the ever-changing macro-environment. As a judge described, the world is changing so fast and we never know how the design scene will respond to it. Between the reality of today and the exploration of the future, Award360° will find the balancing point together with the designers, and focusing on the most active change and frontier of design with a flexible posture.
