Design for 'Superproductivity' in Ridesharing

This was a project done during the second year of my stint in NUS' Industrial Design in collaboration with PSA Groupe. The brief was improve rideshare services for riders and drivers.
Following our brief, the team sought to put ourselves in the shoes of riders and drivers under ridesharing. We found that a lot of the times, drivers would tend to make their rides more comfortable for riders, and the industry was heavily focused on 'customer' service. This was because the system for Grab and Uber at the time ( 2018 ) worked through customers giving drivers ratings. The concept was simple- higher ratings, more rides a driver would get.

But there was clearly a gap that no one was addressing - making the rides more comfortable for drivers, the ones that work 8-12 hour shifts in a row, and would oftentimes sleep in their cars instead of returning home.

The team wanted to improve this process by designing a vehicle that maximised the driver's productivity so that they are able to get the most buck out of their time.
We introduced the concept of courier delivery services en-route to the next passenger destination. So that drivers had less time waiting and more time on jobs completed. A simple alteration to design vehicles by creating a 180-degree side door and removing the side passenger seat meant that drivers could carry larger parcels during their day to day trips.

The side door and an extended backseat legroom meant that customers have an easier time loading and unloading their packages to the car - less time that drivers stop and wait, and more time on the road.
The concept of superproductivity also meant that drivers would need to have a higher frequency of vehicle maintenance.

The Peugeot 808 features additional space for drivers to place personal cleaning and passenger equipment for ease of reach.
A huge shoutout to Patrick Chia and Donn for being one of the best mentors.
