Garten(Jardin)majorelle--Garden(Jardin)majorelle
Morocco Marrakech
In the garden you will find plants from all five continents, mainly cacti and bougainvillea in addition to a bamboo grove. Twenty gardeners and employees take care of the garden and the basins every day. In 1999, the flora comprised three hundred species, especially a diverse planting of cacti. In 2000, the garden received an automatic watering system that allows the plants to receive the optimal amount of water at the best interval.
The garden has been open to the public since 1947. In 1980, it was bought by the French fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent and his partner and business associate Pierre Bergé. In 1997, Bergé set up a foundation, "The Majorelle Trust", to take care of the preservation of the grounds in the long term. They had the now overgrown garden restored in several stages. This is where Saint Laurent drew his inspiration for his collections. After his departure from the fashion business in 2002, the villa and the garden became one of his retreats. After his death in 2008, his ashes were scattered in the rose garden in the presence of staff and friends. (Wikipedia)
