Biodiversity
Stamp design
Awarded RSA winner 2010 - The concept behind the stamp designs is that biodiversity is our world as we know it and without biodiversity we could not survive. This is conveyed through the simple spherical illustrations drawn for each of the animal kingdoms. Split into plants, fish, amphibians, reptiles, mammals and birds, each stamp shows a variety of species. The block shapes fit together to symbolise the tectonic plates making up the earths crust, coloured with a recognisable globe image. To heighten awareness of biodiversity decreasing, the screen-printed graphic demonstrates the percentage of species within each animal kingdom that are endangered. It begins at the earth’s axis and circles the globe-shape depending on how high the percentage is.
