I was commisioned to design a book cover about Italy and its food culture. The client wanted a very impactful cover, dynamic and colorful.

I didn’t want to design a stereotyped idea of Italy and its lands. The aim was to show another point of view.

After many ideas and sketches, the client chose the right one. Below you can see the initial sketch.

The client was very happy about it. The cover should have been finalized. Unfortunately the publisher stopped the process and opted for another cover. They wanted to have a more "classical" view of Italy and its food, so the cover was rejected.

I decided to use this illustration and transform it in a poster.
