Tablet & Pen | Animation Experiment

Tablet & Pen | Animation Experiment

I decided to do a quick animation experiment with a 3D model I created through a 3D modelling course I'm currently following. This has no connection to Wacom, or is it an accurate representation of their products in any way - this was a short 3D animation project to explore different camera movements and animation using Blender's shader nodes.
MOTION / MOVEMENT

On this project I wanted to focus more on the timing of camera movements and some basic visual effects accompanied by music.
STILL IMAGES

I usually prefer realism when it comes to visuals and context shots, but for this animation I wanted to add a bit of mystery. I ended up ditching my background elements and decided to reveal the tablet and pen by using a dark background and lights only.
Workflow

Some screenshots of some basic node set ups for the tablet's lights and camera binders to help me sync movements with the music. Overall I'm satisfied with how this turned out. I had planned to only do a quick 10-20 second animation but decided to see how far I could push it without spending too much time on it (4-5ish days including render time). Render times varied from 4 seconds to 35 seconds each frame.

It was quite fun working on this. I learnt a few things about mixing and cutting audio as well as some camera transition techniques.

Software Used: Blender 3D / Blender Eevee / Adobe After Effects CC
Music: Overdrive by Anton Vlasov
