This Digital Art collection is created as an expression of my travels that has changed my perspective of life and the world. I was born and raised in Indonesia and the design of these pieces is inspired by the traditional puppet-art highly celebrated in Javanese culture, Wayang.
The shape of the design is based on Wayang Gunungan. Gunungan is a mountain shaped figure used in Wayang. It has a vast history, meaning, and usage in the Wayang art form. More commonly, Gunungan is used to indicate a backdrop of a scene and to express a beginning or the end of a chapter in the story. The color palette used in each piece is a reflection of each city and how it is seen through my eyes. The details of each piece are a combination between the landmark of the city and the simplified version of the Wayang’s art style.
