BRIEF
The earliest stages of life, from conception to birth, leaves deep imprints in our physical and emotional systems. Becoming aware of the impact of your earliest experiences can bring about profound healing. Rootswork guides parents and their babies to unravel the pre- and postnatal stories and provide deep healing through personalised tailor-made programs.

I was asked to create a new logo based on a painting of a grown woman in a seed-like womb that sprouts roots and becomes a tree. The client loved the idea of showing what happens in the womb affects not only the mother but the child as it moves into adulthood. It is the foundation of our physical and emotional lives.

RESULT
Based on this complex painting, I created a simpler version that would communicate the main ideas the client wanted to portray about her business: safety, gentleness, protection and growth. Since her work deals with trauma, we wanted the logo to feel supportive and hopeful, yet acknowledging and respectful of what the person may have experienced.

The figure of the woman was designed with a one line drawing that connected her to her environment, and ultimately to her growth, showing how these elements very much influence her development. The letters further supported this idea of 'roots' growing with a slab typeface and the shades of green connected back to nature and growth.

These elements also reappear throughout her website, with imagery with warm tones and a strong contrast that focuses on the positive result of her services rather than the pain her clients may currently be experiencing.
