Designed to celebrate the film's 20th anniversary. For The Movie Poster Show, a film fan art collective from Mexico City

For this poster I initially wanted to run away from the obvious main characters and the dog. I experimented with portraying absence and loss, but at the end liked the idea of showing the intertwined stories of love, betrayal and pain of Octavio, Valeria and "El Chivo" using veins as a metaphor for the visceral, complex emotions of this film.

This was the opera prima of Alejandro G. Iñárritu (Birdman, The Revenant, Babel). A must-see for anyone who wants to understand the complexity of life in Mexico City.
