This movie is inspired by the 1914 silent movie masterpiece by Nino Martoglio (Sicilian playwright, film maker, poet and actor) Sperduti nel Buio (Lost in the Darkness), whose trails have been lost for a series of unfortunate events at the end of World War Two.
The plot tells about an aristocrat's illegitimate daughter, who escapes from a treacherous exploiter, then starts singing and eventually is defended by an honest blind musician.
Many critics consider it ahead of the post war Italian Neo-realism.
