Since the main driving force of this play is the character’s resistance to their environment, it was important to me to emphasize their desire for isolation. The key point that helped me shape this design was the actual space the production was set in. The space was intended for productions in the round and I felt that it was relevant to incorporate that in the design and have the audience surround and isolate the characters. Another important aspect that helped shape the direction of the design was the header made out of windows. Although the characters desperately strive to leave their environment, they are rather static and inactive. The idea behind the header was to have the characters feel as if they were stuck in a glass box (snow globe).
