Hand-Drawn Werewolf Game Cards

Werewolf (also known as “Mafia” or “a Night in Palermo”) is a party game where each player is secretly assigned a role. In my group of friends we used to play with regular solitaire cards. We’d agree amongst ourselves that “the King is the werewolf, the Queen is the doctor” etc. That lead to misunderstandings and questions like “which character did you say the King represents?” during the course of the game.
To solve these issues, I made my own cards with a picture representing a character, their name and a short description of their abilities.

The cards are color coded based on the character’s affinity. The “bad guys” are red and the “good guys” blue-green. That way each player can easily tell which side they’re on. In this game no single player can win, only their side or their opponents’ can.

Previously, being assigned the role of the villager (a character with no special abilities, usually represented by a number card) was boring. With the custom Werewolf cards, you never know which villager you’re going to get, as they’re all unique and have their own back-stories .

The Mayor card (“ΔΗΜΑΡΧΟΣ”) is special in that it’s the only non-character card. Instead, it’s a secondary role that a player can have, in addition to their secret character ability. For that reason, I chose to illustrate it as a hat, which can be “worn” by any other character.
