POSTCARDS FROM SOMEWHERE

POSTCARDS FROM SOMEWHERE
Between June 6th and July 19th 2020 I made 101 small drawings when nobody was looking, either late at night or to begin my day with a cup or two of black coffee, a series of necessary meditations. After I’d stopped with the drawings, I spent a couple of afternoons giving them hand-lettered titles, very intuitive responses to little things the individual drawings seemed to be indicating as I reviewed them.

The drawings are about the size of postcards (5 ½ x 6 ½”), which seemed timely as we’ve all been on a sort of Strange Trip this year. I made the drawings in isolation, as most drawings are made, but Isolation with a capital “I” this time around. The drawings are sort of self-portraits but not really. They’re exercises in moving the pen without a plan and seeing who might be looking back at me through the ink on the small scraps of paper.

I've sold individual drawings from this series (shipped in branded packaging!). I've licensed selections for editorial usage in magazines. And I published a catalog collection of the entire series, which can be purchased internationally directly through Amazon.com.
