'From Above' Fabric & Pillow Design.

The following pattern designs are part of a 3 part series inspired by one of the most
prevalent building surface materials seen from Istanbul’s spectacular views. The first
series is called FROM ABOVE. The fabric design was created by Alexis Sanal and
Murat Sanal for an interior architecture project which will be predominately viewed
from above. In November our team began working closely with Penelope textile in
Bursa to produce the textiles for commercial applications.

Application of 'From Above' fabrics
in Salt Galata Interior Design.

Salt Galata's Research Library was a perfect home for the first series of 'From above'
fabrics. The large open gallery like library space is viewed from the balcony on the
upper levels, allowing the viewers experience to mirror that of the fabric creators,
looking down onto the patterns that Istanbul's colourful rooftops create as they weave
unevenly between each one another.

Tile Application of 'From Above' pattern design
made for Robert College, Istanbul.

The designs harness the smooth and glossy texture of the tiles to find
a striking color balance that allows variation in scale, arrangement,
and application. In June our team began working with Vitra to produce
the patterns for commercial use. The first application will appear as part
of an architectural project for Robert College, Istanbul.

Artists Archive

Made for Salt Galata Interior Architecture project 2011 as one of  set of three objects.
Each object acts as tactile story tellers in a conversation with the others.  The artist
archive is of geometric construction and scale.  Each are also placed to entice those
beyond the boundaries of the research center, indoor and outdoor, to come in and
see what is there. Each attempts to transcend plywood’s inherent nature, and yet
simply express the elegance of such an ordinary material.
