HIGH RESOLUTION EARTH FROM SPACE TIME LAPSE VISUALS

Flying around the earth at 28,000 kilometers per hour (17,500 mph) and at an altitude of 400 kilometers, astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS) experience amazing views of our home planet. In their spare time astronauts document the Earth in high resolution photos using the many professional cameras onboard the station.
This short film is a compilation of some of the time lapse images captured across several ISS missions.

Every clip in this short film has been painstakingly processed. Each time lapse video starts as a series of high resolution photos, often in raw format. Often there are 500 to 1000 photos in a series.

After first removing spots on each image from sensor dust, the image sequences are processed. This includes deflickering, stabilization, noise reduction, color correction, and cropping.

The time lapse videos are also retimed. This slows the footage down from its original speed to something that is closer to what the astronauts experience from their orbit around earth.
