Portrait illustration of the first Serbian urbanist

Portrait of the first Serbian urbanist Emilijan Josimović
He was born in 1823 in Stara Moldava, Romania, in a Serbian family, and died in Sokobanja in 1897.  He was the one of the founders of the Association of Serbian Engineers and Architects and the first editor of the magazine "Srpski tehnički list".
Today, the old core of Belgrade looks like this thanks to Emilian Josimović. Then, without the support of influential people and the authorities, aware of the fact that the urbanist has no right to decide independently, he decided to publish the book "Explanation of the proposal for regulating the part of Belgrade that lies in the trench" in which he explains his ideas and plan.  It is the first professional book in the field of urban planning in Serbia, where the first urban plan traced some of the basic axes of today's Belgrade streets - Knez Mihailova, Cara Dusana, Kralja Petra, but also public parks on the site of the former Great Market, and today Student Square, as well as  plan of today's Kalemegdan.
The basis for making this portrait is DUP KALEMEGDAN, no.  6/69.
