Garden Sanctuary
Final Project - Design II 2007
The final project in our freshmen level design class was our first on an architectural and human scale.  By transforming an original 2D painting into a 3D design, the program being a space that would serve as a place of rest and meditation.  By concentrating on entrance, rest, and exit as elements of progression, I transformed the parallel lines of the painting into steps, the main perpendicular as the path, and the circle as the place of rest. To further strengthen this element, a canopy is stretched over the site (provide shade at the place of rest) and is supported by curving vertical elements that seem to grow from exit steps at the end of the progression.
