Data Illustrations - WePresent Ideas Report 2020

For the third annual Ideas Report, WeTransfer asked 35,000 people how a global pandemic affected their creativity. Five artists reflected on how they made it through the year themselves. To accompany these texts, I was asked to create 5 data visualizations and hero illustrations built on the report's data & insights.

A little splash of paint
Creativity is quirky, fluid and surprising, like a blurb of paint on a white page, so why not use it as the main medium to communicate data?
Collage Art
My objective was to give a tribute all the creatives who took the time to answer the survey, of all ages, origins, and backgrounds. I chose to merge these painting elements with black and white photography of people or part of people into whimsical collages.
Infusing brand identity
To create a link with WeTransfer's report. I designed relying the brand guidelines & vector elements provided by the team. While creating the paint elements, I worked with colors matching the color palette of We transfer.
Freedom & Copywriting
WeTransfer gave me full creative freedom when it came to writing the subtitles and legends.I wrote all the legends under "we" rather than "they", because I'm one of these creatives too. It also created a stronger link between the visual, reflection of the survey's results and the creatives who did fill up the survey.
