The Four Agreements, written by Don Miguel Ruiz, is a self-help book that offers a code of conduct based on ancient Toltec wisdom. It advocates freedom from self-limiting beliefs that may cause suffering and limitation in a person’s life.

In this experimental typography project, the mood board reflects the book’s theme of connection and progress.
Elements used were soil, seeds, and grass, which symbolize growth. The dead leaf illustrates the decompositional stage in the transformation cycle.
Digital adjustments included cleaning up the material typeface, Rift, printed on paper and used as a stencil. The Display font weight of this Sans Serif improved visibility for the typographic treatment. The pairing typeface is Playfair Display, a transitional Serif design used to contrast type hierarchy. Boosting brightness enhanced the materials’ depth, while dead leaves created dimensionality and balance to the front and back cover.
