A while ago I was asked to paint  on a clutch frame. Then my friend Larisa, the designer (brand the Irony), was going to make the bag and sell it at the charity auction.
I thought a lot about the topic of the picture. One day a little after, surfing  the web, I found a drawing by Mike Yamada. He inspired me to make something in retro cartoon style. It became a story of a lady and a dog. Step by step the lady turned to be a compilation of Audrey Hepburn's heroines. And no other theme was to be as the "Roman holiday"!
While making my sketch in Photoshop, I was thinking over how to make my painting, without deep disturbing the frame's texture. And also I needed a method of colouring which was fine enough for a little square (5 X 15 cm) and for my inexpert (in such kind of job) hands . In Russia there is a folk painting called Gorodetskaya rospis. So, I used some brush movements and touches from it.
