History of photography, editorial design / PoliMi / 2020

The aim of the project is to study one of the most significant photographers of the XX century: Diane Arbus.
This work consists of two parts: the first one is a research on the artist's life and work, the second one suggests an analysis of the social, philosophical and cultural meaning of Arbus's portraits.

Diane Arbus is mainly known as the photographer who manages to portrait New York's freak world in the Sixties, despite she dedicates part of her career working in the fashion system with her husband Allan Arbus (together they made lots of shooting with Vogue, Glamour and Seventeen).
This special interest for the hidden side of the city allowed the artist to integrate New York's society narrative with all those personal stories that had no representation yet.
