Portbou es el último pueblo costero de España por el lado oeste, limitando con Cerbère en el lado francés. El pueblo tiene 1.300 habitantes, y la abrupta topografía (también es el encuentro entre los Pirineos y el mar Mediterráneo) impide la agricultura o la ganadería. Históricamente Portbou ha subsistido principalmente a dos elementos: el intercambio de mercancias, ya que los vagones debían ser transportados del ancho de vía español al francés; y al negocio de las aduanas.El primer mazazo económico para Portbou fue la entrada de España en la Comunidad Económica Europea, que hizo que se abolieran las aduanas. El segundo fue la decisión tomada de hacer el trayecto Figueres-Perpignan del tren de alta velocidad pasando por La Jonquera, lo cual quitaba a Portbou también el monopolio del intercambio de mercancias.
Portbou is the last coastal town of Spain on the west side, bordering Cerberus on the French side. The village has 1,300 inhabitants, and the steep topography (also is the meeting between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean Sea) prevents agriculture or livestock. Historically Portbou has subsisted mainly on two elements: the exchange of goods, as the wagons had to be transported from gauge Spanish into French, and business customs.The first economic blow Portbou was the entry of Spain into the European Economic Community, which led to abolish customs. The second was the decision to make the journey Figueres-Perpignan high speed train passing through La Jonquera, which took from Portbou also exchange goods monopoly.
Se prevé un gran crecimiento de las dos grandes ciudades conectadas por el AVE, lo cual también puede ser una oportunidad para los pueblos cercanos que tengan cierto interés turístico. Se realizó un estudio sobre los atractivos de todos los pueblos entre Figueres y Perpignan, y se pensó en una conexión mediante una infraestructura urbana (Tren-Tram) con la parada principal situada en Portbou, sede histórica del ferrocarril y con una gran estructura (la antigua estación) que queda sin utilidad, y puede ser reconvertido en usos de gran interés histórico y cultural.
Strong growth is expected in the two major cities connected by stroke, which can also be an opportunity for the nearby villages who have some interest. A study about the attractions of all people between Figueres and Perpignan, and thought of a connection via urban infrastructure (Train-Tram) with the main stop located in PortBou historic seat rail and a large structure (the old station) that is not useful, and can be converted into applications of interest.
El recorrido une todos los pueblos de la Costa Vermella de una manera más rápida, más económica y más ecológica que el transporte privado, utilizando las vías de tren existentes y que quedan en desuso, lo cual reduce considerablemente el coste de la operación. Se realizaron estudios en profundidad sobre la demografía, tamaño, y distancia entre poblaciones para decidir cuántas paradas iban a construirse, y la velocidad entre ellas. Para ello también se tubo en cuenta la diferencia de cota, y los atractivos turísticos de cada población, ya sean por motivo histórico, cultural, o de servicios (bares, restaurantes, ocio, hoteles, transporte, etc).
The tour unites all peoples from Costa Vermella a faster, more economical and more environmentally friendly than private transport, using the existing railroad tracks and left in disuse, which greatly reduces the cost of operation. Were conducted in-depth studies on demographics, size, and distance between populations to decide how many stops were built, and speed between them. This tube also note the difference in elevation, and tourist attractions of each population, whether due to historical, cultural, or amenities (bars, restaurants, entertainment, hotels, transportation, etc.).
Para enfatizar el papel prioritario de Portbou dentro de la linea del Tren-Tram, se buscan edificios en desuso (antigua estación ferroviaria, antiguas oficinas de aduanas, y demás edificios públicos), y se les da un nuevo uso con intereses culturales e históricos, un motivo para que aquél que viaja en AVE a cualquier escala tenga un interés en pasar el día en el pueblo. También se mejora la accesibilidad y la visibilidad de edificios importantes, debido a la gran diferencia de cota entre la estación y las playas.
To emphasize the role Portbou priority within the Train-Tram line, look for unused buildings (old railway station, old customs offices and other public buildings), and given a new use with cultural and historical interest, a reason for that AVE traveling on any scale has an interest in spending the day in town. It also improves accessibility and visibility of important buildings, due to the large difference in elevation between the station and the beaches.
El punto fuerte del proyecto a nivel urbano se basa en la mejora de accesibilidad del pueblo hacia los principales puntos de atractivo: la antigua estación y la iglesia. El gran edificio de la estación, que está en desuso, se convierte en un centro comercial y cultural, incluyendo atractivos culturales (Museo del Ferrocarril, Museo de la aduana) e históricos (Museo Walter Benjamin, Museo de Portbou). La parada del nuevo Tren-Tram está ubicada directamente dentro del edificio, frente a las escaleras de unión con el resto pueblo.
The highlight of the citywide project is based on improving people’s access to the main points of attraction: the old station and the church. The large station building, which is deprecated, becomes a business and cultural center, including cultural attractions (Railway Museum, Museum of the office) and historical (Walter Benjamin Museum, Museum of Portbou). The new stop-Tram Train is located directly inside the building, opposite the stairs connecting with other people.
Se coloca un aparcamiento cercano a la estación, apenas visible para el ciudadano y que conecta directamente al interior del edificio con escaleras mecánicas y ascensor. Por su parte, se derriba un edificio que constituía un obstáculo para la iglesia, tanto visual como de accesibilidad, y se crea por tanto una conexión via rampa entre la iglesia y la rambla principal de Portbou.
Place a car park near the station, barely visible to the citizen and that connects directly into the building with escalators and lifts. Meanwhile, a building is demolished an obstacle to the church, both visually and accessibility, and thus creates a connection via ramp between the church and the main promenade Portbou.
