Metal Candlestick Holder
When learning about metalwork, I created a steel candlestick holder. I first took two strips of metal and drilled a hole in the centre of them. I then used a scroll bender to create the scrolled legs of the holder. I then used a Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welder to weld the two pieces of metal together, before spray painting them metallic silver.
Once the base was completed, I created the candlestick holder using a lathe to form the cylinder shape. I used a tap and die to create a thread in the base of the cylinder, and then attached this to the base using a nut and bolt. I decided not to weld the bolt because I wanted to be able to add additional decorations between the base and holder in the future.
Finally, I carved the base of the candle with a knife so that it fit nicely in the candleholder.
I then styled the candlestick holder with some pine tree ferns and gold ribbon on a fireplace to display the holder nicely.
