Google Typography Brief Group Project (Part 2)

Created in collaboration with Jazmin Gonzalez Vera, we were able to create a fictional hashtag in the space of activism, targeting teenagers and young adults with depression and other similar mental illnesses as a result of social media. Within this fabricated reality, our aim was to partner up with a charity as a central body to enable personalized letters to be sent to and from various participants, thus increasing awareness to the general public and helping to facilitate communication the old-fashioned way. This idea was fleshed out in light of participation in a mock brief based off the Google Typography Challenge from D&AD, which emphasized using typography from Google Fonts to communicate a certain issue, while also remaining true to a legitimate cause.

Our solution to the given problem would involve the creation of a web application prototype to imitate the potential onboarding process of user's registering to be able to purchase items from the storefront, as well as a mobile application to allow users to communicate with each other via sent letters (an idea commissioned to have individuals spend less time on social media, avoiding any potential depression that might come along with it). As an added detail, we were able to commission various songs from the real world pertaining to the issues of anxiety and depression, which would all be lumped together into one album record to be purchasable on the fictional organization's store.
