My Way Home

My Way Home is a picture book written and illustrated by me. It was inspired by an article about a mother tiger who lost all of her cubs. Rather than leave her alone, her owners gave her a family of piglets who had been orphaned and almost immediately started taking care of those piglets as if they were her own.
My Way Home is about a white tiger who is taken away from its mother, who is no longer able to care for it, and put into the care of a mother pig of two. Through time they have to learn how to adjust to their new farm life and how to love their pig siblings and mother.
I wanted it to be a reminder of those struggling in the foster care system. There are so many kids who, because of their circumstances, end up in the system. They sometimes feel alienated by their new surroundings and often it is hard for them to adjust to their new guardians and lifestyle.
