One of my higher ed clients started a Center for World Music from an acquisition of Balinese musical instruments, artwork, and other cultural artifacts. After my first experience with iPad development, I proposed this idea for an iPad app that would promote the Center to a broader audience, as well as be a model of how academic institutions can better leverage underutilized assets.

The app would have musical instruments that could be played as well as historical information through text, photos, and videos.

Unfortunately the director interested in producing this left for another position.

I believe educational institutions (especially those with museums and collections) are ideally structured to develop high-quality apps, in that they have the assets, research, and pedagogical expertise that come with the content.
