"Save Rock and Roll" - Fall Out Boy

For the third and final Graphic Design practice exercise, I was expected to display my typography skills.  These skills would be utilized on a movie/ show quote, book quote, or music lyric of my choosing.  The quote I decided to design comes from one of my favorite Fall Out Boy albums.  The song, titled "Save Rock and Roll", talks about the unfortunate "death" of the rock music genre, as numerous musicians have strayed to perform and produce more pop-oriented music.  The quote I selected in particular emphasizes this feeling of dread and loneliness, and as a result inspires the individual to accept their likenesses rather than let the likes of others dictate their personal opinions and beliefs.  I resonated with this lyric because I believe that, in any facet of life, people hold convictions in which they may have no one to share that similarity.  However, they should not lose those convictions, as those steadfast ideals are what define the individual as a whole.  I designed the lyric using duller colors to emphasize the "grunge" atmosphere associated with rock music and included a gradient to showcase the song's hopeful undertones of saving a lost musical form.  For the text, I utilized bolder colors to allow for easier reading, as well as utilized different fonts to express differences in text connotation.  The serif words share the aspect of declaring what will be done, whereas the more scripted words add detail to the aforementioned declarations.  Concerning layout, I gave the text a left-based orientation to help balance out the appearance of the gradient on the right side of the document.
