Projeto de reconstrução do livro “A Invenção de Morel”, de Adolfo Bioy Casares.
A ideia era criar um objeto de leitura cíclica, contínua, dando forma ao “eterno retorno” dos personagens criados por Casares. Para isso, o livro é em “concertina”: suas páginas foram concebidas como um contínuo sanfonado, com o mesmo conteúdo impresso na frente e no verso. Ao virar a última página, o leitor encontra, na quarta capa, o simulacro da capa, e, à partir dela, a repetição do que acabara de ler.
Somada a este artifício formal, a narrativa do livro é dividida em duas linhas distintas, representando, graficamente, o que acontece na história: uma, que concerne o grupo do personagem Morel, repete-se indefinidamente ao longo das páginas, à parte da estrutura do livro. A outra, a do fugitivo, mantém-se paralela a essa, presa a uma estrutura mais rígida, até que se dissolve na primeira, tornando-se imagem, repetição. As manchas de texto são deslocadas e anguladas, o tamanho dos tipos muda, refltindo as alterações de humor do personagem, enquanto os eventos experienciados pelo grupo de Morel são apresentados de forma neutra, indiferente às aflições do fugitivo.

The main idea was to create an object of cyclic, continuos, reading, giving shape to the characters' "eternal return". In order to do that, its pages were conceived as an unique continuos folded piece, presenting the same content on both sides: when the reader turns the last page, he finds the book cover once again, and from that, the repetition of all he's just read.
Along with that formal resource, the book's narrative is divided in two distinct lines, representing, graphically, what happens in the story. The first one, positioned at the upper portion of the page, is the linear organization of what happens to Morel's group, with reconstructed pieces of text from what the narrator observes. These events are repeated indefinitely throughout the pages, aside from the book's structure.
The other one, the main narrative presented by the author, is the fugitive's line, and runs across the page freely, getting closer or farther from Morel's narrative according to what's happening in the story. Still, it's locked within the more rigid structure offered by the physical configuration of the book itself, until it dissolves into the first one, becoming image, repetition. Carvings, deslocations and angulations operated in the text blocks, type size changes, reflect the character's mood changes, while the events experienced by Morel's group are presented in a neutral way, indifferent to the fugitive afflictions.
