Lord of the Beard - Beard Oil

Lord of the Beard - Beard Oil
I️ have a deep love for "The Lord of the Rings" films. They hold such nostalgic value for me, and I️ adore the characters for their rich backstories and lore. So naturally, when given the task to create a brand and package design based on a movie character, the infamous character of Gandalf came to mind.

When brainstorming for what product I should create, I️ was instantly drawn to Gandalf's long, majestic beard. Therefore, I️ thought it would be perfect to design a beard oil company based on the notorious character of Gandalf.
To make this product design successfully, it was imperative to create a die cut for the packaging of the beard oil. The picture below is the die cut I️ created to craft a box that would assemble tightly and neatly.
Gandalf's character is known by multiple names:

- Gandalf the Grey
- Gandalf the White

"Gandalf the Grey" was Gandalf's original form. He died while fighting against "Balrog the Demon" in the first film, and later returns as "Gandalf the White" in the storyline of The Lord of the Rings to help defeat the evil armies of Mordor.

I️ wanted to depict his character development by using different colors for the product's boxes. There is a light grey box which symbolizes Gandalf's character as "Gandalf the Grey", then a dark grey box which symbolizes "Gandalf the Grey's" death, and finally a crisp white box which symbolizes the resurrection of Gandalf's character as "Gandalf the White".
I️ chose to create scents for the oils that directly related to Gandalf's character. The "Spring in the Shire" scent refers to when Gandalf the Grey rides into the Shire (the land where Hobbits live peacefully) in the first film, "The Fellowship of the Ring". The "Pipe-Weed Tobacco" scent is used because Gandalf is also known for smoking his pipe quite often, and the literal name given for the tobacco that the characters smoke is "pipe-weed". The last scent named "Fangorn Forest" is used because Gandalf the White is first introduced to the audience in the forest named "Fangorn Forest".
