Screwless glasses designed with a magnetic hinge
that let the free customization of the product.
3 frames, 3 temples, 9 combinations.
Who wears glasses knows very well how important it is to choose the shape of the frame. when you wear glasses you are wearing a dress that can change or enhance our personality in the eyes of other people: how many times have you felt more nerdy wearing one glasses or more artist wearing another?
What we wear represents us but unfortunately the glasses cannot be changed every day as if they were a t-shirt. From here I wanted to develop a hinge for temples that would allow the customization of the frame according to the user taste, mood, situation and style.
First I designed the hinge, then the eyewear was born.
Three aligned magnets with alternating poles create a stable joint that allows at the same time to rotate the temples as in a classic eyewear. The temples have three different finishes and materials and can be connected to any frame.
While designing the frame, I realized how complex the shape of the glasses is as it is designed to follow the curves and profiles of the human face. This natural relationship of the product to the human body must also be reflected in the choice of colors, avoiding too bright and synthetic colors. The finishes and tones chosen for the first line are warm, relaxing colors inspired by natural materials.

The ideation of the magnetic hinge was a crucial phase for the project as it was necessary to start from a detail to then create the whole product (usually is the other way around).
Numerous designs and prototypes in paper, cardboard and plastic have been created to test the functionality and wearability of the product.
