THE PROJECT
In this project we were tasked with creating a sneaker and packaging design for a shoe based on our research of both the past and future of shoe design. We needed to create a shoe, a box, a 3d printed accessory and a screen printed piece of fabric.

My idea for the project was to create a knockoff sneaker by incorporating multiple shoe brands into one shoe. The shoe I choose as the base was the high top converse Chuck Taylor since it is a simple and iconic silhouette. The brands I choose to include on the shoe were Nike, Adidas, Vans, and Asics. I choose Nike and Adidas because they are the biggest and most recognizable shoe brands in the world. I choose Vans because they have always been a favorite shoe of mine and I've had at least one pair of Vans in my shoe rotation for as long as I can remember. Lastly I choose Asics to pay homage to the Onitsuka Tiger shoes which were the shoes that Nike was created around. I choose to call the project knockoff because the definition of knockoff is "a copy or imitation, especially of an expensive or designer product" and that's what I hoped to achieve through this project, the creation of an imitation shoe.
To execute the project I screen printed a pattern on a sheet of white vinyl then cut out the shapes needed using a Cricut cutter. I then glued the different sheets of vinyl on the shoes. I also used a 3d CAD program to recreate a Stock-X tag that say's "verified knockoff" then 3d printed the tag and put it on my shoe. To create the box I cut the sides off an old converse box and stuck them on the side of a new box, then drew the pattern on the side. For the lid I spray painted the top and used a vinyl sticker based on the lid of a Nike SB box. I also made a punch-needle rug with the shoe on it to wrap around the shoes in the box.
