New Fish Wave
– How to ignite an established seafood industry
Inspired by the ocean and the colours of fisherman clothing, buoys and nets the book is printed in two Pantone colours; green 808 U and orange 804 U. The two colours make all texts, graphs, photos and illustrations come together and all illustrations are inspired by Icelandic fisheries. The typeface KK Harbour by studio Krot&Krass was used for headings – it's design was inspired by Icelandic harbour-life.
The New Fish Wave is written by Dr. Thor Sigfusson, the founder of the Iceland Ocean Cluster. In the book he describes how the cluster model has inspired more innovation and entrepreneurship in the global seafood industry. He terms this “The New Fish Wave.”
As the world becomes more conscious of maintaining healthy oceans, developing technology to support our world’s population, and investing in the many benefits of
ocean products, the New Fish Wave grows. The Iceland Ocean Cluster now sets the standard for what is possible and attainable, both in the seafood industry and beyond.
The New Fish Wave is a revolution for all of us — in how we think about an “old” industry, how we view our environment, and even how we treat one another. Through the story of the Iceland Ocean Cluster, this book challenges notions of competition, collaboration, and what it means to advance as a society.
The New Fish Wave was nominated for best book cover at FÍT — Icelandic Association of Graphic Designers Awards — in 2020.
