Grow Bros Micros—Logo Contract
The Logo
This is the final draft of a logo for Grow Bros Micros. This was my first logo design project and my first time working with a client. I could not have asked for more understanding and pleasant people to work with.
Their approach to a microgreens operation and their audience were both considerably different than their competitors. They had to appeal to an untapped audience of microgreen buyers while maintaining a face of perfect reliability to appease the restaurant suppliers they would be selling to. Something different and special was necessary.
Client Requests
"It should be something modern and sleek yet eye-catching, masculine (to appeal to a largely untapped male market) yet not overpowering, because appealing to a certain demographic could be perceived as excluding other potential demographics. As far as color scheme goes, I’m thinking something along the lines of black, white and green."
"Keep the 'I' in 'Micros' as a micro-green sprout,"
I responded to the client's needs by drafting a logo that was extremely solid, but still stylish, with just a flick of flair. Hand-lettering the logo with block letters definitely achieved 'masculine,' and I was able to use the sprout 'I' as a 'feminine' design element that unifies the whole with a little bit of dynamism in the apparent motion of the leaves.
The signature 'Grow Bros' is intended to add a bit of cockiness to the whole. I saw it as a rockstar's signature on an album—a way of confidently taking credit for the 'Micros' in the name. It is my own handwriting, albeit after dozens upon dozens of attempts to get the 'g' to look the way I wanted it to.

The client was extremely happy with the logo. That meeting was the first time I heard that my work had 'made this feel real' and excited a client; made them feel like they had a place at the table.
