The goal of the Type as Image project was to evoke the meaning of a non-English word using various elements of typography, design, and illustration within the word itself. Those who do not speak the target language should be able to tell what the word means just by looking at the image.

I struggled with settling on one particular word, as I had a few very strong ideas and was encouraged by my professor to follow through with all of them. In the end, I chose the Greek word for "afire," which ended up being a variation of my existing work of the same word in Spanish. All other word variations - along with my initial project sketches - are included.
