The ORICO, bridge two worlds of classic and modern with elegant, timeless design. Inspired by the sunflower and seeds pattern, the design emphasizes functionality and simplicity while still embodying a futuristic look. the timepiece expands on the concept by defying symmetry and conformity with subtle elements. The little breaks in consistency create a final model that exudes versatility and boldness. It is a respectful understanding of the past while fiercely defining the future.

The ORICO is an automatic mechanical watch which It comes in a 45mm 316Ti Stainless Steel – Titanium case and black rubber strap, making it long-lasting and scratch-free. We imagined this chic sport-formal model using the beautiful, subdued aesthetic grammar of the circle. The ergonomic elegance of the ORICO is based on the slim profile of the case that espouses the wrist, while the bezel is strictly horizontal, parallel to the skeletonized baseplate. As its movement is just 6.4 mm thick, the ORICO was able to limit the thickness of the case to 14 mm.

SPRUNG BALANCE WITH VARIABLE INERTIA

The free-sprung balance at 8 o’clock offers increased reliability in the event of shocks and movement assembly or disassembly, thus achieving better chronometric results over time. The index has been eliminated, allowing more precise and repeatable adjustment using 4 setting screws. This guarantees greater reliability when subjected to shock and during movement assembly or disassembly, hence better chronometric results over time. The regulator index has been eliminated, guaranteeing a more accurate and repeatable calibration thanks to 4 small adjustable weights located directly on the balance.

GEAR-TEETH PROFILE
The ORICO meet four basic principles: legibility, functionality, precision and reliability. Thus, every detail has its purpose, its function. This technical precision is expressed through pure lines and timeless elegance.
The watch’s heart, the mechanical movement, is an amazing technical challenge within an extremely limited space, it must contain a continuous, precise and reliable movement. It is made up of hundreds of assembled and adjusted parts, precisely tested and fine-tuned by the master-watchmaker. In and of itself, this “living organ”, an ingenious masterpiece, symbolizes centuries of technical innovation and watchmaking expertise. The entire going train of the watch, the primary transmitter of power to the movement, utilizes a special profile for the teeth of the wheels. The wheels use a 20˚ pressure angle.

PUSHER
A pusher located at the above of the crown and it is placed in a vertical aperture at 2 o’clock makes it possible to change the date which we have considered a circular motion to show the day of each month.

Designing Process

CASE

Producing the ORICO case is an extremely complex task, as almost 30 parts are required to create it. The design of the watch demonstrate a holistic approach to the conception of the movement, case, and dial. Its four-part construction includes the rotating bezel that plays a role in keeping the timepiece water-resistant. The case is made of grade 5 titanium and features exceptional hand finishing. The bezel, the case back, and the crown protector are polished and satin-brushed. The baseband has vertical satin brushing, while the lugs have vertical and horizontal satin brushing and polished beveled edges. The case is assembled with 6 screws in grade 5 titanium and is water-resistant to 30 meters, ensured by two O-ring seals.

The idea of the pattern on the rotor and as well as on the dial is inspired by the sunflower seed pattern. The pattern of seeds within a sunflower follows the Fibonacci sequence, or 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144... If you remember back to math class, each number in the sequence is the sum of the previous two numbers. In sunflowers, the spirals you see in the center are generated from this sequence -- there are two series of curves winding in opposite directions, starting at the center and stretching out to the petals, with each seed sitting at a certain angle from the neighboring seeds to create the spiral.

Relying on a rotor made of Copper and Bronze alloy and white gold, combined with the winding system with ceramic ball bearings, the barrel can be efficiently wound while maintaining the compact dimensions of an extra-flat, skeletonized movement. Its tight, taut lines sharply underscore the sporty quality of this timepiece.
