A studio comprised of seven women created a film is about how the history of Stellenbosch is censored through casual conversation.

For this reason, we entitled the film "Spookasem", which is Afrikaans for "candy floss" or "ghost's breath".
These are some of the shots I took. My fellow cinematographers - Kelsey Dickson and Nienke Geldenhuys - had excellent shots as well that can be seen in the film.

A lot of these shots were taken during a tour of Stellenbosch that I took with Jordyn Dreyer. It portrayed an idealised history of slaves “helping” and being "helped" by white men. We were angered by this, and we decided to take the position of the accidental tourist - an rejected observer of the world of men.

Spookasem

A film about how the history of Stellenbosch is censored through casual conversation. We drew from concepts like hauntology and banality.
