Riso zine FUNGUS

A4 Riso Zine with digital collages, printed in four inks: Blue, Fluor Pink, Yellow and Black.

THE PROCESS
Design
It took me a few attempts before I realised what kind of result I wanted in the end. At first, I wanted to make something contemporary, wanted to play with the font. But the possibility to print 4 colours stopped me from these designs, and gave me an idea of using real pictures of fungus, which I found online.
So I did collages and editing in Adobe Photoshop from the downloaded pictures. Separated the layers for the Risograph by using CMYK separation in Photoshop.
Above is the example of the picture of fluorescent mushroom I used for one of my spreads; the final design in Photoshop; and the riso-printed outcome.

Printing
I printed Yellow colour first. Then fluoro pink, blue and black.
Above is the example of 3 layers of colours printed and the same spread with the black colour printed on top.
Of course, there were some trials and errors. For example, a problem of deciding what opacity to choose in my files, when there was large area of solid colour. Sometimes, I put wrong spreads into the risoprinter and then had to reprint them again.

THANK YOU!
