Talismans & Artifacts was very much a passion project centred
exploring loud, expressive page layouts.
The concept for the publication was a quarterly-published collection
of leaders in the creative fields of visual art and music.

The main challenge with this project was using highly-expressive page layouts
,of bold shape and colour, without over-crowding the featured content
and not confusing the eye of the reader.
I achieved this by being very intentional with where I chose to introduce negative space,
and allowing 2 double-page spreads per section of content.

I chose to lay this out in what would become a square booklet because I love the way
that a print object in this shape can be displayed on shelves, and how portable
it would be.
Because I included many black structural elements to help create balance between the large images, the accent colour palette needed to be much softer, but still eye catching.
I love the way the pale beige, green, and red create visual interest without
causing a distraction.
