Branding

Knygų startas / Book Start

“Book Start” is a social initiative intended to provide the country's newborns with their first books. Our objective was to create a child-friendly and memorable branding for this initiative. Something that would stimulate positive emotions for both toddlers and grown-ups.

Globally, these initiatives are not new - books have always been coupled with toys; however, it is new in Lithuania and “Book Start” wants to play a predominant role by following examples in other countries. We’ve chosen a pea as the main symbol for different reasons: firstly, a pea in the pod reminds us of a wrapped baby, and because it’s also a rhyme from the most popular Lithuanian lullaby. The pea - fragile at first, and becoming strong and inventive as time goes by.

We wanted "Book Start" branding to be playful and adventurous at the same time. The vivid serif font pleasantly links to the the printed pages, and both the graphic details and the illustrations, created from simple geometrical forms, recall a toddler’s bedroom. Everything fits together wonderfully, becoming an effortless tool for a surprising variety of shapes.
