At the 40th anniversary of the military coup that overthrew the socialist President Salvador Allende and install a civilian-military dictatorship for 17 years in Chile headed by General Augusto Pinochet, thousands of people marched to the presidential palace of La Moneda to remind the President Allende. During the night they lit candles at the National Stadium, sports complex used as the largest prison in the country during the first months of the dictatorship, to remember all those thousands of women and men who were arrested and tortured inside, being many dead and many missing until today. Al cumplirse 40 años del golpe miltar que derrocó al presidente socialista Salvador Allende y que instalara una dictadura cívico-militar por 17 años en Chile encabezada por el general Augusto Pinochet, miles de personas marcharon hasta el palacio presidencial de La Moneda para recordar y homenajear al presidente Allende. Durante la noche se encendieron velas en el Estadio Nacional -recinto deportivo que durante los primeros meses de la dictadura fue ocupado como el mayor centro de prisioneros del país- para recordar a todas aquellas miles de mujeres y hombres que fueron detenidos y torturados en su interior, siendo muchos de ellos muertos y otros tantos desaparecidos hasta el día de hoy.
