For the Slovenian Office of the Municipality of Cividale I designed the layout of the brochure “Cividale and the ancient testimonies of the Slovenian language / Jezikovni spomeniki slovenščine v Čedadu”.

I first dealt with the realization of the photographs of the medieval parchment manuscripts and subsequently with the graphic design of the booklet, which aims to disseminate the codes and at the same time the promotion of the City of Cividale under the tourist, naturalistic and museum.

The concept is inspired by the observation of the holes, due to wear and the passage of time, which are usually formed on ancient parchments. This inspired me to design a cover with folded flaps, printed in front and back and then die-cutted. The geometric pattern of the die cutting allows a glimpse of a portion of the manuscript printed on the internal flap and at the same time the holes evoke the holes in the parchments, creating an interesting 3D suspanse effect. The same concept was simulated within the booklet for the opening of the individual chapters.

In order to maintain consistency with the theme, I opted for the use of a uncoated paper, the Fedrigoni Freelife Vellum Premium White, which was used for both the cover and the interior. The closed format of the booklet is 160 × 200 mm.
