Location: Interstate 5 (the couple hundred miles before the Grapevine)

I had the idea of using I-5 as my location for this project when I was driving back to Orange after thanksgiving. I took I-5 to get from the Bay Area to Orange, and it is not a very exciting drive, but it is the quicker route. It has been said that this is one of the most boring drives in California. Between Sacramento and the Grapevine, the road is two lanes and completely straight. There is nothing for miles on each side of the road, and it gets very very boring. I have wondered why there has never been anything built here since there is so much open space everywhere. There are some farms but mostly just open fields of nothing.I think that this unused land could be a good site for my project.

Inspiration 

Above are some photos from sculptures on the sides of freeways and highways. The two on the right are from the enchanted highway in North Dakota. there are many many sculptures along a stretch of highway, and I just included two that I thought were interesting. the photo on the left is a sculpture in Spain on the side of a freeway. I am thinking that I would like to do something like these for this project.
